The Savage Hare

This print of a man wearing a Hare mask was gifted to me by felt-artist Gladys Paulus after we collaborated together on the creation of “Ceirw / Savage Hart” (citrus arts.co.uk).

“Ceirw / Savage Hart” was a theatre production I wrote and directed where the performers wore felt Deer masks. The production went on to tour Nationally and was nominated for a Best Dance production award. During the research and development phase I borrowed the Hare for dancers to explore what it felt like to work with Gladys’ masks and so his character and style influenced my production greatly.

Here I have blown up the image and decoupaged to the front of a sideboard along with handles of sleeping foxes who the Hare evades in the long grass.
